Endovenous Ablation

Endovenous Ablation Therapy for Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are more than just an eyesore. Sometimes they hurt and make everyday life uncomfortable. All veins have valves that act like traffic signals, opening and closing to make sure blood is always flowing the correct direction. Varicose veins are veins with broken valves. In a varicose vein, blood flows backward and stays in the vein. This causes the vein to expand, stretch, and become twisted, which prevents it from circulating blood effectively.

What is Endovenous Ablation Therapy?

One of our most popular and common vein treatments is Endovenous Ablation Therapy. This type of procedure maps out your veins with ultrasound mapping to find the root of the problem. At the Yorkville Vein Clinic in Toronto, we offer Endovenous Ablation Therapy  using the VenaSeal™ Sapheon Closure System. The VenaSeal™ dispenser delivers a very small amount of medical glue to close the vein. Once the affected vein is closed, blood is immediately re-routed through other healthy veins in the leg.

Endovenous Ablation Therapy is a minimally invasive treatment meaning you will not have to go through lengthy recovery times. Local anesthesia makes sure you remain comfortable. Only a small incision is needed for the procedure and it will heal quickly.  At the Yorkville Vein Clinic we recommend the use of compression stockings to help accelerate the healing process.
